Project Limits:

The proposed improvements are located at the intersection of US40 and SR7 in New Castle County, Delaware. The limits of construction extend along US40 from the Governors Square Shopping Center entrance to Eden Circle and along SR7 from Geissler Park to Songsmith Drive.

Project Need:

No pedestrian accommodations are provided at the US40 at SR7 intersection and pedestrian crossings are prohibited via signing across the east and west legs of the intersection. However, land uses surrounding the US40 at SR7 intersection generate significant pedestrian activity. Sidewalk is provided on the southeast corner of the intersection, serving the Eden Square Shopping Center.

Brief Description or Project Overview

The following improvements are recommended to improve pedestrian safety at the US40 at SR7 intersection:

• Install signalized pedestrian crossings across the north and south legs of the US40 at SR7 intersection.
• Construct sidewalk connections along both sides of SR7 from US40 to south of Songsmith Drive, along the south side of US40 from SR7 to west of the Wawa, and along the north side of US40 from SR7 to Governors Square Shopping Center.
